A Brief Timeline

 

August 17, 1972 - Panagiotis Spanos meets Bishop Petros and begin talking about becoming a priest, old calendar, etc.
February 1974 - the building was bought and construction began.
February 17, 1974 - Panagiotis Spanos was ordained a deacon (this was Meat Fare Sunday)
March 3, 1974 - Fr Panagiotis was ordained a priest (Sunday of Orthodoxy)
March 25, 1974 - 1st liturgy, Palm Sunday
1978 Greek school begins with the nuns of St. Synkletike Monastery in Farmingdale as teachers.
1979 Fr Panagioti departs for Greece to become the priest of St Constantinos Monastery
1979 Archimandrite Fr Nectarios Socrates would rotate with Fr Nicodemos Kalantis as priests of Saint Isidoros.
In 1985 there were some small fires in the church, no significant damage

Fr Kleanthis Korkotas

Father Kleanthis Korkotas

Father Kleanthis Korkotas was born in New York City on December 7, 1963. He was raised in Astoria, New York with his two sisters, Georgia and Evangelia. At a very young age Fr. Kleanthis became the spiritual son of His Eminence, Metropolitan Petros of Astoria. Under the guidance of Metropolitan Petros, Fr. Kleanthis grew up at Saint Markella's Cathedral in Astoria. Here he learned what it meant to be an Orthodox Christian.

In 1985, Fr. Kleanthis graduated from St. John’s University. In 1989, he graduated with a Master's degree in History/education, and became a teacher. In 1993 Fr. Kleanthis married his wife Konstantina. This year he also received a second Master's degree in School Administration. In 1996, after the birth of his first son Stefano, he was ordained a Deacon by Metropolitan Petros. It was Metropolitan Petros’s last ordination.

In 1998, Fr. Kleanthis was ordained a priest by his Eminence, Metropolitan Pavlos of North and South America. It was Metropolitan Pavlos’s first ordination as a hierarch. In 1999, Fr. Kleanthis was made Presbyter of Saint Isidoros Church in Bethpage, New York. In November 1999, His second son, Pavlos, was born. Fr. Kleanthis has been a teacher and assistant principal for over twenty years. He was elevated to the rank of Protopresbyter and continues to serve as the pastor of St. Isidoros Orthodox Church in Bethpage, New York.

Father Nicholas Seregos

Fr. Nicholas Seregos was ordained a deacon by His Eminence Metropolitan Petros in 1988, and a priest by His Eminence Metropolitan Pavlos on July 22/August 4, 2008. He serves as the assistant priest at St. Isidoros.
